Heart Crew Terms

Holding the center of a common journey

  • When joining as a Heart Crew member, the General Terms for participation in the Ecovillage Laboratory also apply. These must be read, understood, and accepted in full. Link here

1. Heart Crew

  • By joining the Heart Crew, members agree to embody the heart of the community dynamic, to take responsibility for the well-being of participants, and to care for the shared environment while engaging proactively in the collective process.
  • Heart Crew members are aware that they are entering a temporary community laboratory, a container for exploration, learning, and transformation. It is not based on an existing permanent community, but is instead created solely by the participants who come together for this time. The team of the Asociación Valle de Sensaciones, which organizes the event and provides the environment and framework, will support the logistics. Individual team members may or may not join the community fully or temporarily. On the social level, and concerning daily logistics, the Heart Crew is expected to autonomously and self-responsibly hold space for the community and its needs.
  • Heart Crew members commit to a previously agreed period of involvement, usually spanning several months. The reliable fulfillment of their role during this time is essential for the ongoing operation of the community.
  • An introduction and integration phase is supported by our core team before members can fully assume their responsibilities.
  • The agreed conditions take effect upon fulfillment of this commitment and are accompanied by an initial deposit, as described below.

Community coordination

  • Heart Crew members agree to take on the coordination of the daily needs and tasks of the community, ensuring that essential areas such as nutrition, cleanliness, warmth, communication, and conflict resolution are adequately covered. For this purpose, they may apply the Community Mandala, a game-based coordination tool that allows for an easy, flexible, and fair distribution of tasks and responsibilities among all members of the community. An introduction to this tool will be provided at the beginning of their involvement.
  • Heart Crew members are not required to perform more community tasks or responsibilities than any other participant. In assessing fairness in the sharing of tasks, the coordination and guidance efforts provided by Heart Crew members are to be regarded as part of their contribution. However, it remains their responsibility to support the community in finding fair and effective ways of sharing, while ensuring that all needs of the community are met.

Work exchange

  • Heart Crew members usually enter into an agreement for a work exchange, through which they may receive a waiver of the fee for the use of the space and, in some cases, a waiver of food costs.
  • The work exchange applies exclusively to project tasks related to the fundamental provision and maintenance of the space and its framework, as well as to tasks connected with hosting short-term participants. Tasks that concern the ongoing needs of the community do not form part of the work exchange. Such tasks must be shared fairly among all participants, independently of any work exchange agreement.
  • Unless otherwise agreed, the work exchange takes place during defined working hours under the direction of our project team. Within the previously agreed scope of duties, tasks are assigned according to the needs of the project.
  • If the agreed work exchange is not met, the usual community contribution for the relevant period becomes payable, in full or proportionally to the shortfall.

  • Heart Crew members may occasionally, if available, make use of unique spaces such as treehouses, the clay house, or circus caravans. However, they are not entitled to occupy these spaces on a continuous basis, as such spaces are intended to be shared and experienced by a variety of participants, especially those joining for shorter periods.

Agreement Field

  • Like every participant, Heart Crew members must fully agree to the Agreement Field and demonstrate continuous effort to comply with all agreements. As Heart Crew members provide orientation to other participants, especially those joining for shorter periods, it is essential that they are fully aware of these agreements, remain loyal to upholding them, and actively offer guidance and support to others in doing the same.

Deposit

  • To secure their commitment, each Heart Crew member pays a deposit of 200 €, independent of any agreements regarding their financial contribution. This deposit will be fully refunded once the agreed minimum commitment period has been completed.

Early termination

  • In the case of early termination, the deposit may be retained in order to compensate for the initial effort of introduction and integration, and to cover the possible costs of appointing a replacement who can assume the role on short notice.

The deposit will be retained in the following cases:

  1. If the member ends their commitment early for personal reasons, including illness.
  2. If the member terminates early because community dynamics or life in a nature-based, experimental environment do not meet their expectations.
  3. If the member repeatedly and seriously breaches the community agreements and is therefore required to leave the community.

The deposit will be fully refunded in the following cases:

  1. If the community journey has to be terminated by the Resonancia Community team for valid reasons.
  2. If all parties mutually agree that an early departure is in the best interest of everyone involved, provided that the essential needs of the community remain covered and the departure does not result in additional efforts or costs.

Should unforeseen situations arise that are not covered by the above, a decision will be taken collectively.

Absences and time away

  • Heart Crew members may take time away from the community environment, up to a maximum of 25 percent of the total agreed period. Any absence must be coordinated in advance with the other Heart Crew members to ensure that all community needs remain covered.
  • For absences longer than 3 consecutive days, the usual community contribution and work exchange obligations are waived pro rata for the period of absence.
  • For absences longer than 7 consecutive days, any previously allocated personal space must be cleared of personal belongings so that it can be used by other participants.

Hosting and Events

  • Heart Crew members are welcome, and encouraged, to host friends, members of their personal network, or participants they recruit. In such cases, they will receive a share of the corresponding contribution, as determined by separate agreement.
  • In coordination with the entire Heart Crew, and in collaboration with the Resonancia Community core team, they are also welcome to organize events such as dance gatherings, workshops, spiritual ceremonies, and similar activities.
  • The specific terms regarding hosting apply and must be followed. Link here

Group size and recruitment

  • Participant numbers may fluctuate over time. We aim for a Heart Crew of three to four members holding the base, with additional participants staying for months or selected weekends, and a maximum on-site community size of 20 at any one time.
  • Heart Crew members are encouraged to manifest the desired group size, gender balance, and other agreed aspects by attracting additional participants who align with our shared values,
  • As the heart of the community, Heart Crew members are expected to take initiative in shaping the community experience they seek, rather than relying on others to create it.

Participant selection

  • Heart Crew members may be granted access to user profiles and correspondence within the Presentation Interface on our website. This access is provided solely for community coordination and participant selection, must be kept confidential, and must be used in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
  • Once the Heart Crew is operative on site, their evaluation of individual candidates and the overall needs of the community dynamics will be considered before accepting new reservations into the Community.
  • Reservations for the independent Coliving House are accepted without involvement of Heart Crew members. However, Coliving members have free access to the Ecovillage Laboratory and its general activities, provided they have stepped into membership, fully comply with the agreement framework, and attend all meetings for community communication and processing that are declared mandatory by the Heart Crew. Such mandatory meetings are to be scheduled with consideration for the personal needs of individual members.
